2011

Harmony Celebration Chorus claimed first place with a score of 654; the Ridgewood, N.J., chorus was the 12th Place chorus in its first International contest appearance in fall 2010 in Seattle. Harmony Celebration was also the first-place midsize chorus, with 53 singers on stage.

a.k.a. Quartet was the 2011 Region 15 Quartet Champion, with a score of 634.

Other notable achievements:

Heart of Long Island, under the direction of new director Leona Schwartz, was the Most Improved Chorus, with an improved score of 42 points
Jersey Harmony Chorus was the first place small chorus with a score of 485 points

2010

Greater Nassau Chorus of Sweet Adelines International won the 2010 Region 15 contest with the region's highest-ever score of 695. The Baldwin, N.Y., chorus was the 4th Place Medalist in its last International contest appearance in fall 2009 in Nashville.

Escape Quartet claimed the 2010 Region 15 quartet title with a score of 582.

Other notable achievements from the contest weekend:

Hickory Tree Chorus captured the 1st Place Midsize Chorus recognition, as well as 2nd Place Overall, with its best-ever score of 632.
The 1st Place Small Chorus was Jersey Harmony for the second consecutive year, earning a score of 484. The chorus was 5th Place overall.
The Most Improved Chorus was Island Hills, with a score of 518, an improvement of 57 points
The Novice Quartet award went to Four Baris, which was 4th Place overall with a score of 531 points

In Seattle, in October 2010, here's how the Region 15 competitors fared:

Harmony Celebration was the 12th Place chorus with a score of 1245, which was just 2 POINTS off the 11th Place finishers
Liberty Oak was also in the Top 20, placing No. 19, with a score of 1168
a.k.a. Quartet finished 27th with a score of 1130
Escape Quartet was 41st with a score of 1056

What a breakthrough for this region with three choruses scoring in the 600s! Congratulations to Liberty Oak (640) and Hickory Tree (622).
